Winter-Forrest Productions is a young vibrant independent production company based near Port Macquarie, on the mid north coast of New South Wales, Australia. Headed up by internationally renowned, award winning writer Michael Winter. Michael has had an extensive and varied television and film career both in Australia and internationally. His rich experience is varied and not limited to any single genre, having written many hours of television drama serials, series, tele-movies, mini-series, situation comedies, and sketch comedies. Michael has also written theatre, musicals and radio as well as short films and feature films for many production houses across the globe. In a career spanning over 22 years, he has acted in every show he has ever written for. Add to that his directing and producing experiences, Michael has a real understanding of both sides of the lens.

Best known for Australia’s longest running drama series for the Seven Network, ‘Blue Heelers’ a police procedural set in rural Victoria. Michael had the original idea for the series, it being totally based on his former life as a country police officer. Michael went on to write some of the highest rating episodes over a nine-year period. Michael was on the creative team of the water police series ‘Water Rats’ for the Nine Network, writing episodes and stories for a number of seasons. Michael has written for the BBC and done the in house training on the ITV series ‘The Bill’. Michael and his shows have been nominated, winning many awards in Australia and Internationally. Currently Winter-Forrest Productions with Michael at the helm has numerous Film and Television projects in development, in Australia, the US and the UK.

Michael is a Full Member of The Writers Guild of Great Britain and the Australian Writers Guild, where elected by his fellow writers, he was on the Board of Directors, NSW Chairperson and then invited by his industry peers, was for a number of years, the National Judging Co-ordinator for the AWGIES (Australian Writer’s Guild awards). He is also a fully accredited member of AACTA (Australian Academy Cinema Television Arts) and a Gold member of Australian Actors Equity (Media Entertainment and Arts Association).
